Implementing the American College of Physician’s Guideline for Low Back Pain – Building an Evidence-Based Case for Chiropractic
It is now undisputed that the global burden of spine-related disorders and the resultant opioid crisis mandate a new approach to spine care. DCs are well-positioned to take a lead role in “being the change”. However, significant barriers exist. Those in charge of creating and implementing current health care delivery models often have reservations regarding the quality and consistency of chiropractic care delivery. The good news is that the rapid movement towards evidence-based, data-driven high value care creates an unprecedented opportunity to level the playing field. The sobering news is that there is now an expectation that all clinicians, including DCs, actively engage in programs that demonstrate the quality and consistency of the patient care that they provide. Dr. Goertz will summarize the opportunities and challenges faced by the chiropractic profession in these exciting times and provide concrete examples of what you can do today to align your practice with the needs of today’s health care delivery system.

A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH TO CLINICAL DECISION MAKING - WHY SOME CORRECTIVES WORK AND OTHERS DON’T
Simply speaking, standard operating procedures work . We rely on systems daily for the efficient and effective care of our patients and clients. Good systems have specific purposes and roles. . . a screen for function is not a health assessment is not a performance test.

Yes, systems have limitations.

Unless they are built to communicate with other systems.

In this lecture, Gray Cook draws from his nearly 30 years of professional experience as both a healthcare professional and fitness professional to explain how integrated systems can be used to move an individual from healthcare to performance. He’ll detail his general philosophy of movement and delve into the specifics of a recent case study that highlights the necessity of proper communication.

Along the way, Cook explores why professionals often take better care of their clients and patients than we do of ourselves and refreshes your perspective on your own movement health.

Refining and Combining Systems – How to Apply Pain Science, Movement Assessment and Rehabilitation in a Busy Practice
There has never been a more complex time to operate a health care business in chiropractic. With patient health care coverage dwindling and out of pocket expenses skyrocketing many offices are struggling even though they have intelligent evidence informed providers leading their clinic. Dr. Hulme and his team at Active Spine and Joint Center have continually found more success year after year by focusing on combining systems and refining their approach. In this presentation Dr. Hulme will help you experience what a systematic approach to patient care can look like. There will also be a strong focus on team culture, choosing a systematic assessment, patient categorization and how to progress rehabilitation.

MAIN STAGE
Insights on Pain and Movement from the Feldenkrais Method
A discussion of the ideas of Moshe Feldenkrais, the originator of a novel method to treat pain and improve function. The talk will focus on how basic concepts and practices developed by Feldenkrais are consistent with recent advances in the sciences of pain and motor learning, and how these ideas can be used by manual and movement therapists in the clinic.
MAYBEE ROOM #2
Musculoskeletal Diagnostic Ultrasound for the Practicing Chiropractor
The lecture will introduce the requisite technology needed to perform musculoskeletal ultrasound examinations and introduce indications and limitations of ultrasound for musculoskeletal pathology. It will then describe the application of ultrasound for common musculoskeletal complaints, emphasizing its utility at the point of care to establish a diagnosis and preclude the use of more invasive, time-consuming, and costly testing. Lastly, a live-demonstrating highlighting the technology will be performed.

Thinking Sideways: Why Divergent Thoughts Will Lead To Innovation In Healthcare
After traveling tens of thousands of miles speaking to chiropractors, school administrators, and students I’m left with one thought. There are those who seek knowledge and those who know everything already. Beware of those unwilling to remain humble in practice and learn from the greats. How will you continually reinvent yourself to stay current in evidence-informed practice while remaining profitable?
